5 Questions with our Resident Artists: DAVID PEYOTE

WHAT IS YOUR RULE TO CREATE?

"the better the contrast, the better the design. a great design is when all elements meet halfway to create a perfect symbiosis, just like the yin yang. "

WHAT IS YOUR SOURCE OF MOTIVATION FOR CREATING?

My goal is to be creating to inspire others, the same way that others inspire me to create. I chose to make my work explorations in color to add some life to this urban concrete jungle we live in.

WHY IS DESIGN IMPORTANT TO YOU?

Design is the fundamental of everything. Take one good look around and you’ll notice that everything is or has been designed by someone (shoutout to Mother Nature for being the best designer ever). What I love about design is not only its aesthetic, but also its practicality.

IF YOU COULD SAY SOMETHING TO YOUR PAST SELF FROM A YEAR AGO, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I would tell myself from a year ago to learn 3D earlier and to put more time in the preparation of my musical project. It would have saved me a lot of time this year if I were more prepared.

IF YOU COULD SAY SOMETHING TO YOUR FUTURE SELF FROM A YEAR LATER, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I would encourage my future self to keep going and to always remember to enjoy the journey. I also hope that he won’t be too impacted by the exponential growth of artificial intelligence that threatens every possible sector in the art field.

WHAT IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU FEEL YOU FACE AS AN ARTIST?

My biggest challenge is to continuously evolve and innovate. I tend to feel comfortable very quick with my style, and that’s when I become somewhat stagnant. I strive to bring new things to the table of any art sphere I partake in.
